So Long Summer

So Long Summer

Compared to the rest of the country, Ruby Valley has had a pretty amazing summer for which we are thankful. Our communities got a good once-in-a-lifetime look at the total eclipse of 2017, we’ve so far managed to dodge any catastrophic drought and wildfires, the fishing and the farming yielded well, and, according to the forecast below, it’s looking like fall might be moving in. Time to put the all the fires and smoke–into the history books. The forecast is hopeful. We appreciate our local ranchers, truckers, and businesses who pulled together a generous relief effort for our neighbors to the east who’ve had an extremely tough year with drought and wildfire.

Fall weather pattern change beginning – some relief ahead.

A series of cold fronts will start affecting the northern Rockies the next several days. The first front this weekend should improve air quality with some showers, smoke-clearing winds and chillier nights expected. Patchy frost is possible Monday morning across NW Montana.

The bigger changes begin Thursday into Friday next week when a cool weather system moves into the region bringing better chances of rain and even high mountain snow. An area-wide overnight valley frost may occur as early as next weekend. Much wetter Pacific weather systems are then likely to follow every few days afterwards as fall begins in earnest.
