Telecommuting from Montana

TobRtGrafStageRd1200Best of both worlds. A great job with high pay–that allows you to telecommute from Montana. Greg Gianforte of BetterMontanaJobs.com will be visiting with the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce and interested community members for an informal roundtable on Tuesday, June 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at Pepper Tree Deli at 105 West Legion Avenue in Whitehall.

He will be discussing his recent telecommuting project, where he is spreading awareness and encouraging telecommuting throughout the state as a means for bringing Montanans back here to work, and providing high-wage jobs in the state. He welcomes local members of the community and businesses to attend and join the dialogue. See the brochure here.

Rain, Beautiful Rain

JFF-twin650A series of stormy weather patterns has provided much needed spring moisture for the Ruby Valley. A check of precipitation totals provided by the National Weather Service shows this part of southwest Montana being above normal for the year ranging from 105% at UMW in Dillon to 170% at Norris. Photo of Twin Bridges, courtesy of “Hayes” from Just for Fun Photography.

Beginner Roping Clinics

Three Rivers Arena Club is presenting Beginners Roping Clinics for anyone interested in learning roping basics from the ground up. Clinics will be held at the Madison County Fairgrounds. Coaches for the clinics are Ray Marxer, Jann Potter, Pete Novich, and Luke Novich.

The first clinic will be held this Saturday, May 30 from 1 to 5 P.M. Roping dummies will be used for horse work and horsemanship sections rather than live cattle. All but 2 slots are filled. Cost is $25, and pizza will be provided.

The 2nd clinic will be Friday, July 24th, and live cattle will be used. Participants are welcome to compete at the Pete Novich SWATR rookie roping the next day, July 25 at the Twin Bridges fairgrounds. Clinic cost is $35, and pizza provided.

Clinics are limited to 12 participants, so sign up now. Contact Becky Kington at 925-0708, email bkington@3rivers.net; or message Becky or 3 Rivers Arena Club on Facebook. Click poster to enlarge.

Local Business Expo a Success!

Lunch Expo

The Local Business Expo held May 2 was a deemed a success!  Over 40 businesses showcased their products and services.  And over 200 folks enjoyed a free lunch provided by your Greater Ruby Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Therese and Roger from Main Street Market barbequed and served the lunch so a BIG thank you to them for feeding us all.

Those attendees that visited each business, had their card entered into the drawing for the Chamber sponsored $50 cash door prize!  Our lucky winners were Pat Day and Penny Peterson from Sheridan, Keith Johnson – Twin Bridges and Bob Hiers from Virginia City.

Thank you to Bob Reimard, our Chamber Director, that spearheaded and organized the Expo.

The Expo is  a great opportunity to get your home based business in front of the public and to gain exposure.  Attendees always comment that they didn’t know we had so many businesses in our area!  Landscapers, carpet installation, gifts, candy, personal care products, catering services and even libraries and wild bird feeders –a very diverse group of businesses.  Plan on attending next year to see for yourself why you can really shop local!
